How to Enroll in a Course or Join a Project
Please read the entire page before you begin. You may want to print it.

Courses flagged with the key icon require special registration to enter. |
 |
Courses flagged with the guest icon will allow "guest entry". Guests can view resources but cannot post to forums or access assignments. |
Enrolling in a course is a two-step process.
- Create your user account (this is done only once, no matter how many courses you take; you must create a user account before you can enroll in a course)
- Enroll in a course

I Create your user account
Please find the Login link in the top, right-hand corner of the home page and click. This will take you to the "Login page". See Is this your first time here? (right column of the page) and follow the instructions.
There are two steps to creating an account:
- Visit the Website at http://theflyingcat.com/cweb and click on the login link (in the upper right corner)
The login page is formatted in two columns; the left column is for logging into an existing account, the right column is for first time users who need to create an account.
The button for opening the New Account form is at the bottom of
the second column. On the New Account form you will enter a
username and a password. Make up an easy to remember username
and a secret password. Do not share this logon information with
anyone. You will also enter your name (first and last),
your email address, and your city.
Your account is not yet created! You must respond to a special account creation confirmation email you will receive at the address you registered.
- An account creation confirmation message will be immediately sent to your email address. Read your email, and click on the web link it contains. This confirmation process will prevent someone from maliciously creating an account in your name.
Your account will be confirmed and you will be logged in.
II Enroll in a course
Individual courses may also require an "enrollment key", details will be provided by the course instructor or your school system.
- If you are not already logged into the site, do so. (when you ARE logged in you'll see your name at the bottom of evey page and at the top on selected pages)
- Courses are grouped into subject categories. Click on the course you want to join.
- If you are prompted for an enrollment key use the one that the Instructor, or school system, has given you. If you are a Fulton County teacher you will have received the enrollment key from the Staff Development office or your instructor. This will "enroll" you in the course and you'll receive an email confirming your enrollment.
Now you're ready to come to class!
Your Profile
The first thing you want to do is update your "profile" which contains information about yourself that you want to share with class members. The profile also includes a picture of yourself. Your picture (in jpg format only; the system will not accept images in the gif format), will be included in the posts you make to the class fora. The software will automatically reformat the picture you upload to a small square. Be sure to check your profile after uploading the picture to be sure you're happy with the results of the reformatting process! You can change the picture (and any of your profile information) at any time.
The profile and your picture are important elements of the online environment and greatly assist in helping to create a real sense of community.
How do you edit your profile? Enter your class and in the upper left corner you'll see a link to "Edit your profile".

Troubleshooting
I ran across an interesting problem the other day. A student wasn't able to
submit a completed form. She typed in the information but when she clicked
on the submit button the page simply reloaded, erasing all she'd entered and did not submit the form!
It turned out to be the firewall on her wireless router. After turning off the firewall she was able
to interact with the site. |
